Contrary to some reviewers I think this is pretty good value for money. It's exceptionally well made and a real shame that it ends up hidden under the car!
Getting the old cat off can be a problem with seized nuts, but, if you don't need a cat for MOT purposes then bring the angle grinder to bear and cut through the studs.
I'm not in the trade but I believe that if your car is pre '93 then you don't need a cat for the MOT. Check with your local MOT testing station though!
Yes, there is an increase in noise, but, as the pipe is silenced, it is a nice throaty rasp under acceleration. At cruise and part throttle around town there is little increase in noise........but..............floor the throttle and it sounds just like a sports car should do, not obnoxiously loud (a la boyracer brigade) but sounds like it means business! I love it!!
Any exhaust tone review is bound to be subjective, and, as MX5parts say themselves, some will like it some will not!
My guess is that if you are someone considering removing the cat in the first place, then you probably won't object to the new exhaust note.
