Arrived next day, perfect delivery, even got a call from the courier to re-arrange delivery as I was out. Well packaged and looks lovely, no dents or scratches on arrival.

Purchased for '91 Eunos 1.6, completely standard until now!
Fitting was easy enough, about an hour all in. Bit of a struggle with the existing cat bolts but some GT-85 sorted them. Fit was superb, getting under the car not the easiest as I'm not small, but anyone could do this job with a 14mm wrench, a 17mm, some fire gum, some copper slip and some axel stands (I jacked the front and access was fine).

Was a little dissapointed on my shakedown drive. Couldn't hear a difference and performance felt the same or maybe slightly down although idle and pick-up were smoother.

This must have just been bedding in. 10 miles in and a nice burble emerged. To be honest, with this fitted the sound, for me, is perfect. I will be putting as near as standard replacement back section on when I come to the change. The smoothness is still evident (tickover and pick-up) and the car feels more urgent at low revs and free above 3500. The new grumble hasn't eclipsed the lovely on song sound at 4000+ but has eliminated some of the sound of thrash. Perfect.

I have a couple of concerns.
1) I would like some clarity on the Law. My car is pre-August 92 and therefore wasn't required to have a cat, but it had one fitted (it is an import) and KwikFit told me that it is illegal to remove it (and refused to do the job when I made enquiries!). I don't particularly mind it being slightly nefarious, but I would like to know where I stand. Stating 'Not for Road Use' is fine but some more information would help.
2) Fuel consumption. This seems to have taken a turn for the worse, particularly when the car is driven fast. On a run, at a stead 65, there is no noticable difference. With the foot down, petrol is consumed at quite an alarming rate. I know the car isn't really the frugal choice even as standard, and it certainly feels faster now, but I'm not sure this explains the apparent drop in MPG.
3) On the package it would be useful to have information on the import electronic clip fitting that joins the standard cat. I have read that this is just a heat sensor for the Jap spec cat. Correct? It disconnects easily and is easy enough to hide.

All in, I am perfectly happy and got exactly what I was looking for. I can't see a reason for witholding any of the 5 stars. I just need to exercise some retraint with my right foot. I will post an update when I find an MPG figure comparison. Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]
