The product is quite god to look at and a reasonable quality product. However, my problems started when I discovered that the button's thread didn't match my Mazda's. The actual quality of the steel is poor so an attempt to finger screw the item on lead to the thread just literally crumbling away. And I am not a strong man!
Moving onto the sleeve; After removing the old sleeve the instructions said to stick on the enclosed sticky strips. I wondered what I was to do with the extra oval component which is enclosed. It is something to do with the joining sleeve?
After attaching the strips I was unable to 'slip' on the sleeve. It is physically impossible to attach 2 strips, both of which are 1.5 mm high (3mm total) and then slide a sleeve on that has .5 mm clearance. This led to stripping off most of the sticky stuff.
Eventually when I did fit the sleeve I noticed that no effort had gone into handling the transition from shiny chrome sleeve to the old cheap plastic boss before the gaiter. It really ruins the look. They could have done something with that area surely?
I decided that with the faulty knob and poor assembly it would be better to return this product.
Overall it is good looking and OK quality. You wouldn't be dissapointed having it in your car. However I myself felt that it fell short of the usual high standard of we expect from MX5PARTS.
