As usual a great service from MX5 Parts
Had this fitted by a well known MX5 specialist (ex Mazda mechanic, Richard @ Maztek) quite a while ago now. Only just got around to writing the review.
Ever since fitting the clutch rattles on the overrun about 2500RPMS. I have heard other reports of this from the Niparts clutches.
Also after driving for prolonged periods at speed the clutch pedal pulsates when first coming to a stop. If you press the pedal a couple of times it goes away.
The above aren\'t really too much of a problem because otherwise the clutch is fine. It\'s just annoyances really and strange looks from pedestrians when they hear the \'bag of marbles\' sound.
I would give 3 of 5 stars for this part as I would buy a genuine Mazda clutch next time or a more expensive kit.
Editors Note: This is a known problem with \'clutches\' on the Mk1. Mazda issued a service bulletin back in 1995 on the subject. The noise is caused by resonance between the crank and the central springs on the friction plate. Some cars are cured by fitting the later Mk2 plate. The problem is actually quite rare, only ever affects 1.6s, and can appear with any make of clutch!
