I bought a 57i because I needed to remove the existing unit to accommodate the strut brace (see review there).
Easy to install, although you need to be careful with the unplugging of the air flow meter. Although my car (1997 MkI 1.8iS) was very easy, earlier cars (particularly 1.6's) have a very delicate system which will break if you remove a couple of screws and is expensive to replace. The instructions are not clear on this.
Very simple install, although I couldn't get the cold air ducting in place as per the instructions due to a different engine layout on the 1.8iS.
Makes an amazing growl around the 4-6k revs, although it's not really much louder. Also the engine responses are sharper and quicker. I don't notice any real power gain. It's worth it for the sound alone though.
