I have just mounted a K&N 57i filter kit to my swedish sold MX5 1,8 1997. The filter itself was very much straight forward to mount but I had some problem with cold air intake.
The front stripe to fix the rubber inlet is not robust enought. I used 2 scews instead. Also the fixation of the flexible tube with a cable strip is to cheap. Will this last?? The flexible tube is to short to end up 10 cm from the filter. I miss about 10 cm, and I´m a little afraid that it ends to far away from the filter to deliever cold air.

However, the sound is brilliant and I get a feeling the car is faster, or at least it´s more fun to drive.

I give the kit a rating of 3. If you exchange the plastic strips to more robust fixations, screws or metal stripes the rating is 5. The filter itself is breating quality! Rating: 3 of 5 Stars! [3 of 5 Stars!]
