The plinth arrived a couple of days after ordering and having read a number of reviews I was expecting it to be a fairly easy process to replace the existing one. My first observation was that the fittings were different. Undettered I removed the old one only to find that the new one did not fit the existing screw holes in the car body. It's about 0.5 cm out. I've got no idea why. I guess there's no option other than to drill a new hole? I
ncidently I phoned to find out if it was possible to order something different and whoever I spoke to wasn't particularly friendly.
Please accept my appologies if we came across as unhelpfull or unfriendly, it can be really difficult on the phones at times, and the last few weeks have been hard work!
As to your problem, I'm really not sure. You ordered, and we supplied, a Mk2 plinth, for cars from 1998>2000. This is a genuine Mazda part and the design and spacing of the mountings has not changed at any time. However, Mk1 and Mk2.5 plinths are different, so it is possible that the supplying dealer fitted the wrong plinth when the car was new (the plinths are fitted at the UK dealer, not the factory).
The simple solution is to re-drill the mounting holes.
