Hi, ordered this as a replacement to one fitted about 18 months ago to my wifes Mk1 (please note I ran in to a wall and cracked it). It looks virtually identical but I re-used the flexible plastic trim as the new stuff was too big and stiff to stay in place. This is a minor gripe, however, compared to the fixings! Last time I fitted this part they were rubbish and 18 months on they\'re still rubbish! The inserts are barely long enough and the plastic screws go in only so far then strip themselves, either that or the phillips head rounds off as you apply a bit of pressure.
The solution after much faffing about and wasting two hours of my life was to tap a \"red\" size plastic \"Plasplug\" type insert through the Mazda part and then drive in a suitably sized screw. Worked a treat.
I don\'t doubt this is an official Maxda part but I\'d love to know how many are reworked on the quiet!
Editors Note: There is a trick to fitting these. The centre button of the fixing is a push fit, not screw! The screw head is only there for taking them out, not for fitting. Just line it up with the hole, push the outer body well in and then push the centre button in with a screw driver. We have actually found that the new edging is far better at staying put than the original!
