On the face of it, a well made high quality item however I had a couple of issues with mine.
Having removed the standard down pipe, try as I might, I could not get this pipe to fit over the studs on the manifold. I thought that maybe the studs had got slightly bent whilst removing the old one but, when I laid the gasket over the flange, the three holes clearly did not line up. The difference was only slight but it was enough to prevent fitment. I drilled the holes out by an extra millimetre and it fitted easily.
The next issue was that when connecting it to the cat, the angle of the flange was slightly different - again the difference was only slight but it was enough to raise the tailpipe of the system high enough to foul the rear bumper. Now, I have an aftermarket back box with a large exit pipe so clearance is limited and you may not get the same issue with a standard system but, all the same the pipe should conform to spec. I have again managed to get around the problem by tweaking some of the exhaust mounts.
My final comment concerns the fact that this is advertised as "High Flow". The pipe seems exactly the same diameter as the standard pipe and it follows the identical route so has the same bends in it etc. What, therefore, makes it "high flow" exactly?
So, in summary, one hundred quid for a pretty much standard downpipe that doesn't quite fit properly and lacks the heat shield of the original!
I have bought many items from Mx5parts and this is the first time I've written a negative review about any of their products - maybe I was just unlucky.
