Took about a fortnight to arrive due to my contact details not being passed on to the courier or being lost. Called MX5 parts a few times only to be told “it’s en-route”. After e-mailing things started to move, and the Top was delivered next day. Turned out courier had attempted to deliver within a couple of days of ordering, but they hadn’t called to arrange someone to meet them (as I had instructed) and didn’t bother to leave a card to say they had called!! Can’t blame MX5 parts for that.
Apart from that, was very happy with my purchase. It is extremely well packaged, the cardboard box it arrives in is huge!! Comes with several fixing options and even replacement side trim panels and rather complex and large “Ikea” style fitting guide which had me scratching my head. I couldn’t really fathom it out, so decided just to try and fit it anyway.
As it happens, my Mk 2.5 was already kitted out to take the top (i.e. it had the side pillar brackets to accept the extra side latch that the soft-top doesn’t have) and it was just a case of dropping the soft-top, getting my son to help me slip it into place, close the latches, connect the window heater plug and hey presto!! Couldn’t have been easier!! Have to say it looks great, perfect paint match and finish. Quite a bit quieter too on the road, but there is a roar from it when doing speeds that are illegal anyway!!
All in all, very happy with purchase, I would have received it within a couple of days if the Courier hadn’t “lost” it, fitting was a dawdle, and I can’t knock the price from MX5parts. I probably had it easier being a Mk2 owner, I am left with a lot of bit’s a bobs that I guess Mk 1 owners have to use. Also a very large box that I could have made a house extension out of!!
