I got these at a special price at a show and the next morning went out to fit them. This is day four and they are still not perfect. The quality of the units is very high, but I do think perhaps there should be some additional items in the kit, as one of the nylon caps on the lifting arm broke (all mk1s are by default 'old' cars and this will be fragile). This had to be re-ordered as part of a new lifting arm set (set me back £5 and a couple of days wait).
The original stop arm is NOT easy to remove, especially if you want to drill out the spot welds (the method recommended if you want to have the option of refitting the old lights). I had to go and ask a local garage to get them off for me in the end, and they found it a tough job too! Perhaps if you just cut it off it's an easy step.
I also had one bolt short which necessitated a quick trip to the DIY shop. Plus, the step of refitting the light lids was hampered by the fact that two of the holes in the units had not been threaded. Another trip to the local garage (I was not about to send the whole lot back again)!
Now the beams are set and I am going to try and fit the lids again, but they are so far out I am quite worried.
I've done all the mods on my car so far myself, and this has been the hardest. Hopefully I have just been unlucky.
