I spent a long time agonizing over which grille to buy, I bought this one and the end result is far better than I'd hoped. I don't own a ramp or a pit or any of those things mechanics have in their garage so I fitted this lying in the gutter outside my house. It was pretty fiddly and I really appreciated my girlfriend lending me a hand. The instructions suggest pushing the bolts through from the bottom if you're finding fitting them tricky which I did, but unfortunately the bolts are quite long and are visible through the mesh if you do this. I can't be bothered taking the grille off again as I think general muck and grime will dull them down eventually but if you're fitting in this way you might want to try using a marker pen to colour the bolts in.
The whole process took about an hour and a half but before you let that put you off, I doubt that any other grille would have been any easier. It's just and awkward part of the car to get your fingers to, to tighten fittings. If I bought another mx5 tomorrow I'd be on this site buying this grille tomorrow night.
