Easy to fit, once I'd worked out what were the wishbone pick up brackets! Easy enough in the end to work out - it was the lumps of metal with holes in the right places when I laid the brace under the car. A bit fiddly to put the bolts into the bracket, but the MXparts fitting instructions and previous reviews helped, especially turning the wheels to get easier access. The fitting instructions in the brace package were not helpful at all, since they suggest using two thick washers as spacers so the bracket would fit with the fatter part hanging down, whereas the MX5parts washers fitted fine, with the brace the other way up - no idea whether it makes a difference to performance or safety. Certainly no need to raise the standard Mk 1 car, though might be necessary if the vehicle was lowered previously.
Did it make a difference - very much so though I also fitted the rear brace and I don't know what difference the front one alone would make - it's a lot nicer to drive and the feel of the road is much improved. But not as comfortable because the potholes are felt more - though sleeping policemen still make good launch pads.
Would I recommend it - yes, it's an easy, reasonably cheap improvement that I wish I'd made months ago. We've got a top front brace on its way (OEM part from a well-known internet auction site, not MX5parts - sorry, MX5parts - my lady didn't fancy your one). Will be resprayed blue, then fitted - if it makes anything like as much difference, I'll be delighted.
