It might just be a bent bit of pipe (last review) but it's a really nice piece of pipe to have on an MX5 (well, certainly on a Roadster)
Very easy to fit, and easy to see where it had to go - do ignore the instructions from BSP that come with it - that wants you to use 4 bolts, and the holes on the diagram are different from those suggested by MX5parts. It's possible, but fiddly to use an ordinary 13mm spanner, rather than the ring spanner suggested. Went on fine as in the diagram - nowhere near our exhaust.
Certainly no need to raise the standard Mk 1 car, though might be necessary if the vehicle was lowered previously.
Did it make a difference - very much so - I also fitted the front brace and I don't know what difference the rear one alone would make , and we do have the MX5parts heavyweight roll bar (that isn't really a roll bar but certainly stiffens the rear at the top) - it's a lot nicer to drive withe the lower braces and the feel of the road is much improved. But not as comfortable because the potholes are felt more - though sleeping policemen still make good launch pads.
Would I recommend it - yes, it's a very easy, cheap, improvement that I wish I'd made months ago. We've got a top front brace on its way (OEM part from a well-known internet auction site, not MX5parts - sorry, MX5parts - my lady didn't fancy your one). Will be resprayed blue, then fitted - if it makes anything like as much difference, I'll be delighted.
Finally - anyone want a tin of copper grease with a few drops used? - why can't MX5parts provide a small quantity with each bar?
