I fitted this with the front chassis brace. WOW
I was scepticle at first, the pipe is bent a little more than I would have liked and sits low to the floor on my otherwise standard 1989 1.6 MX5. However I see a plus side to this, the brace is very durable, it will protect the underside and the exhaust from speed bumps and will also catch and hold the exhaust off the floor should the back box rubbers break. Smart move eh?
Enough about that, lets talk about the performance. This was the first bar of the two that I put on, naturally I tested the car with just this bar. What a difference. The car's rear end doesn't slip, body roll is greatly reduced, the rear doesn't dive under acceleration quite so hard the entire rear end feels composed.
I suggest if buying this you buy it with the front chassis brace too. WHY??? Well all of the above increases are more than doubled with the pair of them on. The car feels more composed, less diving on braking, accellerating and absolutely no body roll. Comfort is reduced but not by as much the performace and safety of the car is increased.
On the road, the car feels more of the road which makes the car feel faster without being faster so more fun.
At slow speeds the car still feels comfortable. Going around very small annoying mini round abouts used to be the achilies heel of my MX5, the rear would just slip at any speed greater than 5mph, now there wasn't the slightest hint of slip.
Together these bars are perhaps THE BEST modification I have put onto a car.
