Stops heat, noise, fumes and road dirt from getting into the cabin, which is surely a good thing!
All feels a bit rubbery when I change gear though, but I'm sure that the rubber will wear in nicely, just not used to it being that easy to change gear! Vast imporovement in cleaner, smoother shifting, especially with new oil in the turret and gearbox. Mine looked like metallic clay before I changed it.
tip: Lubrication, especially for the lower boot is a necessity. I had a tiny dry spot on the gear lever, and the rubber wouldn't budge. Use that WD40 well!
