Window Regulator Assembly, Mk1

£64.95

by Llew Kemp Date Added: Sunday 30 December, 2007
A good product. Although the instructions were a bit sparse to say the least. Remove the door panel and spend five minutes working out how to remove the old mechanism and how the new one fits and I found it was no problem. Just over an hour saw the job done.
Most of the previous criticisms of the product seem to have been addressed. It now includes crimp connectors to connect the wiring and I was able to fit all three securing screws onto the window. You still need to find the three 6mm bolts (10mm heads) to mount it though. These need to be about 30mm long.
When you're removing the old mechanism you'll find two of the bolts are hidden under the door - easy if you know they're there. The original wiring is almost long enough to reach the new position of the motor so I found by cutting the wires off the old motor and soldering (or crimp connecting) to the new wiring I had plenty to play with. With my wiring the red wire connected to the black & blue wire, but do a dry run first to make sure it works the right way round.
My only criticism is the window no longer drops as straight as it should, but this in no way affects its operation, hence the 4 out of 5.
