Well, in the photo they look lovely, and with the price drop I thought I\'d order some for my little red rocket.
Usual superb delivery from MX5 parts. Then I got the box open...
The criticisms about poor finish are quite fair if you look around the edges of the clear lens: moulding flashings are quite noticeable and the edge is often very rough and crude looking. Nothing you can\'t solve with some patience, care and gentle abrasives. In general though, the moulding\'s decent.
BUT what really spoils the party for me is the grey-white sealant/adhesive the assember in Taiwan has used to seal the lens to the black \'body\' (the bit that bolts to the car). It\'s EXTREMELY visible through the clear lens, resembles chewing gum and makes the lights look like amateurish kit car crud. If translucent or black \'goo\' had been used it wouldn\'t be anywhere as bad: it\'s not that noticeable on the silver version of these lights, after all - but used in these black ones it really genuinely looks poor.
I was sorely inclined to return them, but I\'m currently trying to work out how I can dismantle the lights without damage so I can rectify the sheer stupidity of this. Hydrocarbon solvents seem to dissolve the \'grey gunk\', so possibly with the application of heat to soften it I\'ll be able to free up the lens, then it\'ll be plain sailing.
Not good enough, IL Motorsport. Get on the phone to your contractors and get it sorted out.
Editors note: Sorry to hear these did not meet your expectations. If you would like to forward a photo to us at firstname.lastname@example.org, we will certainly pass it on to the supplier to get this issue looked at.
