Five stars to MX5 Parts for their service - I turned up at half past five (closing time according to the sign on the door) in need of an exhaust and the chap was very obliging despite obviously not expecting any more customers!

Anyway, the exhaust itself seemed pretty well made (although the welding of some of the stays to the midpipe seemed a bit aggressive, having taken a lot of the support with it) and definitely worth £190. It was pretty well packaged too although, at the risk of being Mr. Picky, there was a small mark on the back box where one of the midpipe stays had rubbed whilst in the box.

Having struggled to get the old exhaust off the new one went on very easily - everything lined up perfectly. Used some silicon lubricant on the rubber hangers, it really helps with inserting things into tight holes.

The perceived loudness is just about spot on, not intrusive in the cabin but noticeably not standard and matches the character of the car. Same goes for the tone, although a little raspy through 2-4k rpm for my taste but I think this is abating with more running in. Sounds really good past 4.5k rpm and a nice little burble on the overrun down through the 2k rpm region. A great buy.

Note to Editor - you might consider altering the website footer that says the shop is open until 6pm or else you\'ll get more people turning up when the office staff expect to be going home.
