Firstly, this is a great exhaust whatever the price. The fact it's so cheap is a real bonus!

I had a Mk1 1.8 previously and had the 'standard' stainless exhaust on that one. This time I've had this cheaper exhaust fitted to my 1.6 and there are differences. If you're trying to choose between the two maybe I can help?

Firstly the noise. This is very subjective obviously, but the first exhaust I had was definitely louder than this one. I personally miss the extra noise and wish I'd got the 'standard' stainless exhaust again. This exhaust doesn't 'rasp' until 5k+ revs, the last one made a lovely noise at 4k revs. The more expensive of the two also had a lovely 'burble' on deccelaration that is missing with this exhaust.

I think this exhaust fits better though, the alignment is absolutely spot on and it is perfectly proportioned - it looks like it belongs there! I remember the 'standard' stainless exhaust not fitting quite so well.

Overall I'm really pleased with this exhaust. I've made some 3+ hour trips across country with it and the extra noise was in no way wearing as it could be with the last exhaust I had. It looks wonderful too, a bit special without straying into chav territory. It IS noisier than the normal replacement exhaust but in no way embarrassing. If you want something to sound more 'racey' then the 'standard' stainless replacement is probably worth the extra £50. Rating: 5 of 5 Stars! [5 of 5 Stars!]
