I think some clarification is required after my previous review... and after I had a phone call from Alex at MXP. The confusion about what constitutes a " stainless steel exhaust" rises from the fact the Mazda have combined the cat with the centre pipe/expansion box...as opposed to the more sensible ( from the customer point of view) approach on the Mk1... which has separate cat and centre pipe. ( and is same price at MXP as the Mk2 unit.) This means that, as will normally happen, when the centre pipe corrodes and needs replacing you have to replace the cat which is probably OK..and is expensive. There is a way round this if you have a good exhaust specialist locally.. who can modify an after-market mild steel central pipe/expansion box to have a sleeve over the exit from the cat...and will fit the flange to the rear box.
So my criticism is not directed at MXP but at Mazda!
