I have a 1990 '5 in black - just bought it and its getting a little attention right now.
I took the tie down eyelets off (a pain, but well worth it) and yesterday ordered the stainless grille. Grille came this morning.
To fit it you have to undo and re-use two 10mm bolts in the mouth of the car (technical term!). Undoing them was the hardest part of the fitting process - you can't get a socket on them and they hadn't been moved for 14 years.
Managed to free them with offset ring spanner and brute force (wear gloves to protect pinkies). Fitting grille is then a matter of pushing it into place and securing with the bolts you've removed 30 secs earlier.
Whole job took 20 minutes, most of which was spent on trying to free the bolts.
Result is very bling (stainless steel grille on black car).
Now for replacement allloys...
