Needless to say the item was delivered within 24 hours so now down to business.
You don’t get a lot for your money – a shiny tube, some rubber connectors, screws, support arm/ bracket, jubilee clips and loads of K&N Stickers. Oh, and an almighty air filter. All the electrics are the stock ones taken from the car.
If you know anything about cars a quick read of the instructions will do and your away – really, it is so easy to fit. Off with old and one with the new.
The actual fitting took about 40 minutes. But I must have spent over an hour fitting it for two other reasons: Firstly I wanted to clean the engine bay around where the old filter box was as it was very dirty and with the new system in place it hid nothing of the dirt. And secondly, when the old system was removed, my ‘54 1.8 Artic was left with an upright plate holding the two headlight relays which was right in front of the new filter. So this went and the two relays we fixed to the engine bay using the old mounting holes for the upright.
Just checked and its added £33 a year to my insurance (esure), which is a bit more than I hoped. But the sound, oh my word the sound.
The best thing I have done to my lovely MX5 to date. Highly recommended!!!
