Ouch, its certainly not cheap, but when you compare the prices with Halfords & Demon Tweeks, its a bit of a bargain here...
Fitting is easy, instructions are clear, taking it nice and slow only about 30-40 mins. The red version i got looks fantastic in the engine bay of my green car. I seem to have a lot of empty space now the huge old air assembly has gone...
Fire her up and.... just a wheezy airy sound... Ok.
After a few minutes letting the car idle, we slowly pulled away and there seemed to be a little extra pull. Down the road and and a bit more throttle and whoah! Theres a lovely sound starting to emerge from the front..., a throaty slow beat that speeds up into a hard growl the further you push the right pedal to the floor. Pedal to the metal, the sound it makes is pure 60's sports car. Just make sure you go out roof down first time to fully appreciate it. At the time my car was standard, and the sound was noticable and addictive, but not boy racer loud. When you are pootling about, all you hear is a strange hiss coming from the bonnet, its only when you are gunning it does it switch to poor-mans TVR noise, so its not anti-social with your neighbours.
Ive since had a loudish exhaust fitted, which has changed the sound of the car slightly - my advice if you get this is choose an exhaust that isnt too boomy, and which complements your induction kit.
Cant say how the performace compares to the kits costing a third of the price, but you dont get that gorgeous pipe that really makes you engine look the business!
As ever, fantastic service from MX5parts - it arrived the next day - cheers!
