My old hood was not the original on the car, so I found that this budget BAS hood has stronger fastenings then the old £450 BAS international hood does, forget the rivets that are supplied, fix the hood underneath on the metal seal holders. I've had mine in all weathers and no leaks, (my opinion anyway). Taking the roof/hood off the car makes it far easier. Just make sure you clean the rain rail and drains before fitting new hood, prolong the life even more.
Taking my time and having no experience, I had the job done in four hours. I rang my local Mazda garage and they had to confirm whether they even fitted hoods for an MX5! They were going to charge me £300 labour for fitting it and they would keep the car overnight. Even though it is a budget hood it is a very good overall hood, which does fit, its strong and there are no creases.
So with basic engineering skills for it being the cheapest roof on this site, I've found the overall quality and fitting is more worthwhile than the £450 mohair from BAS International.
P.S. fantastic site and all round service
