Firstly, excellent service from mx5 parts as usual.
I was intially very pleased with this item, I removed the original unit, rust proofed the inside of the door, lubricated the door lock mechanism, fitted the new unit, had a cup of tea, job done in about 1 hour [ instructions are so useless that they may aswell not be there, but it is quite straight forward]. Sadly it was a different story when it came to testing it, using the brackets supplied meant that the bottom " bobbin" on the window fouled against the mechanism and the window would not go all the way down. I fabricated my own bracket that sorted out the problem. Next problem was that the window would not go down straight, this turned out to be caused by play in the construction of the new mechanism, this I found to be very dissapointing considering the cost of it. The solution was to remove the entire thing and attempt to tighten up the considerable amount of "slop" in the mechanism.
In conclusion, my window now operates far more smoothly than before and cannot deny that it has improved greatly, however, it still does not move straight due to unessary play in the mechanism and in retrospect I think I would have rather replced the broken cable on the original unit as it is far more sturdy.
