The MX-5 windows are operated by cables wrapped around a drum that is then turned by an electric motor or manual winder handle. 99.9% of all problems with windows are caused by the rusting of the inner cables in their outer sleeves. This causes the windows to be stiff or run slowly and eventually the cables break.

We can now supply replacement cables! Their are two cables in each mechanism, a short one (the upper cable, that raises the window) and a long one (the lower one, that lowers the window). We strongly recommend that you replace BOTH cables.

We can also supply the nylon drum that the cables are wrapped round. This is often damaged when a cable breaks.

These cables fit all Mk1 models 1989-1998, electric windows.
