Like everyone else here, my aerial stopped retracting. Ordered this, came next day.
Now, when you undo the metal cap on the bodywork, (unscrew with a pair of pliers) and remove the couple of plastic parts which form the seal to the car, there is a two inch sleeve which holds the aerial in place. It doesn't look as if it's there but if you pull on what's left it should come loose. Once the sleeve is off, put on your radio and the mast and toothed belt should pretty much fall out.
If the belt has broken (measure it against the new one) don't worry. I tried to take apart the motor assembly to remove the broken bit but gave up. Someone would do well to print step by step what needs to be done here because to a novice (me) it's a bit daunting.
Anway, put everything back together except the bodywork mounting, fed in the new aerial and then switched the ignition off and in it went - :)
If it doesn't go all the way down just push the rest in manually and then you wont have to touch it again.
The new belt has probably wrapped itself around the broken bit of the old one, whch is not ideal, but it's working perfectly.
Great service again from MX5PARTS.
