My ignition light came on Monday night on the way home. I was lucky that my trusty Eunos got me home without having to call out the breakdown (BTW in 13 years my Eunos has never broken down on me when out).
So it was time to replace my old alternator which has lasted nearly 190000 miles which is good going.
I ordered the replacement Monday night and it arrived Wednesday lunchtime. Super fast dispatch as usual from the MX5 Parts team.
The after market is almost a direct replacement for the old Mitsubishi alternator. The front lower hole was threaded, which I thought would replace the nut, but lack of space in the engine meant that I couldn't feed the bolt from behind. So I simple used a 10mm drill to drill out the thread which took seconds to do with a bench drill. So now I could fit the bolt in from the front with the nut on the reverse as the original one was fitted. The replacement Alternator was almost identical to the old one and dose the job.
Now my ignition lights now goes off and my Battery has now fully charge again.
