I\'ve put off buying a rack in the past because of poor reviews on after market products. I decided to trust Mazda to do a good job and took the plunge on this one. It\'s a really nice unit and looks right when installed. It\'s solid as a rock. It took a while to install but was easy with a little help from a friend! The only pity is that the uprated boot springs don\'t come with it, nevertheless, the standard springs cope quite well but care is needed that the lid doesn\'t drop unexpectedly. On the plus side, the boot closes really easily with the rack in place.
The protective film pads seem to work really well (I cleaned the paintwork with Isopropyl Alcohol to degrease it before applying them) but I would say that once installed the fitting system would not make it easy to remove the rack between uses - I\'ll leave my on permanently.
The kit came with a hex key for one of the two bolt sizes but I found I needed to use a ball ended key to get a convenient angle on the larger bolts in the feet of the rack so as to avoid the risk of scratching the paintwork. I also needed a smaller key for the small clamps - fortunately I had one!
