I'm not convinced I went about fitting these in the best way!
As recommended by others here, I sacrificed the old speakers to save the wires, saves a lot of effort and it's no great loss. Removed some foam and they fitted in quite cosily. However, I then removed 2 sections of the plastic front of the headrest, allowing the raised tweeter units to poke through. This was done to make it easier to fit the speakers in, as they're too deep overall.
However, this now means that the "bass" driver is impeded by the panel. I suspect that this is no great loss as most bass is provided by the door speakers (also replaced) however it may be possible to fit the units without making holes in the panel? This would enable the bass drivers to move freely...
Perhaps the editor could make a suggestion?
Otherwise, an excellent addition to the audio setup. You can fade these speakers in when you put the hood down, I can now hear the audio clearly even at 80mph.
