My wife bought this together with the front brace for me for Christmas (aren't I a lucky chap?) These chassis braces have transformed the handling of my early Mk1! Previously it was a bit twitchy and skittish and it would rattle and slip over bumps and potholes. Now the chassis braces are fitted, it's a completely different car - it's planted, composed and solid. I can put down more power into bends now and it feels rigid and poised, just like my late Mk1. I'm delighted!
Fitting the rear brace is a doddle and even the front brace was simple enough if you read the instructions carefully (I didn't, at the cost of a frustrated hour fitting the bolts the hard way). The bolt needs to be placed INSIDE the wishbone bracket, facing downwards, as opposed to how mine came assembled from the factory. It is then easily accessed with a spanner through the bottom gap between the lower wishbone and its bracket.
It was unfortunate that the rather untidy welding, particularly on the front brace let down an otherwise excellent piece of kit, but I wouldn't let that stop you from getting a set!
