I know that this may sound like hyperbole but the Optimate charger may be one of the most satisfying gadgets that I have bought. There is just something about the way it does what it does that just feels right. I love it when a piece of kit does exactly what it is meant to and does so in a satisfying manner - and this charger does that.
Don't be fooled by its diminutive size - smaller than most battery chargers I have used - it's a good piece of kit.
I had allowed my battery to get far too low over the winter and my existing charger couldn't do anything with it. It was either buy a new battery or try an alternative charger. The charger being the cheaper option I went for that. I'm glad I did.
When it arrived, I looked at it with dismay. This small plastic box surely couldn't be the answer to my problem. However, it had a good solid heft to it and, having no other option, I connected it up. The charger went through its initial checks and confirmed that my battery was indeed out of charge and damaged. So, heartened by the fact it seemed to be doing something, I left it overnight. When I came back, the lights had changed. Could it have actually done something? I tried turning the key and my 5 sprang into action on the first try.
The battery was still registering as not being perfect so I left the charger connected and over the next few days my battery got better and better. My battery now registers as working perfectly (and experience confirms that it is working). I've left the charger on its maintenance program and my 5 is ready to roll whenever I want it to be.
Seriously, I really, really like this charger!
