This is a cracking bit of kit that does add a little bit extra to the look of the rear of the car, there are a couple of buts though. Be aware that this is not a replacement panel for the existing black infill panel on the rear bumper, that black \"infill\" panel is an integral part of the bumper. What you are purchasing is a fit over panel; now that isn\'t a bad thing, after all Mazda use this on some of the cars as an OEM fitment.
To fit this properly it is best to remove the rear bumper, there are quite a number of holes that need to be drilled into the original bumper and they need to be drilled accurately or you will end up with a dogs dinner of a fit, the problem is that Mazda do not supply a template that would assist in drilling the holes accurately. I spent the best part of an hour measuring up and marking before taking a drill to the original bumper, measure twice, check twice, then do it again before drilling.
I have to say that the end result is a factory finish, as you would expect, it has been commented on very positively by a number of MX5 owners but my Caveat Emptor would be, only fit this yourself if you are confident in your ability to transpose measurements form one panel onto another accurately, if you have any doubts on that ability, employ a bodyshop or get someone who is confident before fitting. All for the lack of a template I have to drop the rating of this product.
Editors Note: Thanks for the review and glad to hear that you are pleased with the product. Just to clarify, the reason there is no template is that the original bumper cover does have pre-marked circles formed on the back for the purposes of fitting these diffusers. They are not always easy to see, and you may need to thoroughly clean the back of the bumper cover, but they are there. The supplied instructions then show which of these circles need to be drilled and to what diameter.
