The exhaust arrived quickly and I had it fitted by a local garage for only £25. I doubt if I would have been able to do it myself; they had to deal with a bolt that sheared off, and adjust the tailpipe so that it didn't foul the bodywork. But once fitted it sounded great: throaty and sporty at high revs but perfectly normal at low revs. It sounds like a cross between a rally car and a high-end sports car. Very satisfying. When it's too cold or wet to have the hood down I feel compelled to unzip the back window so that I can listen; it's usually more entertaining and thrilling than the radio.
I read a comment that after a while the sound becomes unacceptable because it's so noisy, but if you stay below about 3000 revs it sounds similar to a conventional exhaust so I don't expect it to be come oppressive on long journeys.
The appearance is also good. The shiny tailpipe is far more attractive than the grimy, tarnished pipe it replaced. Overall, I'm very pleased.
