Bonnet Lifters, Black, MX5 Mk3/3.5

IL Motorsport have worked together with one of the leaders in hydraulic lifters world wide to produce this new system for the Mk3/3.5. The system is installed using all the existing mounting points, no drilling is required.

The result is superb. The bonnet lifts with no effort, with the lifters even having a 'slowing' effect as the bonnet reaches the fully open position. The lifters are strong enough to hold the bonnet open even in strong wind, yet have minimal resistance when closing :-)

Also available in Chrome!

If you have a 2008> Mk3.5 model fitted with the OE resonance chamber, you will also need this bracket for a perfect fit.

Fits all Mk3 & 3.5 models, 2005>2012.

Please note: These will not fit Mk3.75 models from chassis number 350000 on wards that have the DHS system.

The usual quick delivery and great service from MX5 Parts was slightly bittered by this product, I have a few IL Motorsport bits of kit on my 3.5 and usually they fit perfectly. The cable ties were missing, instructions only arrived in German (I believe) and the struts were very difficult to press onto the ball joints. The lower ball joint retaining nut fouls on the bodywork and the wiring loom on both sides does not sit correctly against the assembly. On a positive note, the system works well once fitted.

IL Motorsport parts are good quality and this is no exception. However, if you have a car fitted with the Resonance System you will find that the near side fittings will interfere with the main part of the wiring loom which goes to the fuse box. The lower end of the strut and the special bracket are both in contact with the loom and it seems impossible to avoid this. I've provided some extra protection but will be keeping an eye on this. Also, the special bracket does not have the captive nut of the original and the cable ties mentioned in the instructions were absent. Nevertheless when fitted these struts do look the part and operate perfectly well

Update to my previous review: 5 parts sent replacement bottom brackets due to cracked finish on my originals. The replacements had screw threads of the right length. Make sure the brackets you get do not have screw threads extending beyond the back of the bracket they will hurt your bodywork.

Excellent service from MX5 parts as usual delivered very quickly.Lifters are decent bit of kit, look the part and operate as expected. Overall I am happy with them. A few comments though.Some of the powder coating on one bottom bracket had chipped off. Since the 'chip' was not in the plastic bag I assume this happened in the factory so they need to up their QC.The screw thread holding the ball joint to the bottom bracket extends too far behind the bracket and fouls the bodywork. A couple of minutes with a dremel cutting disc cured the problem but it was an annoyance.Finally several reviews mention the plastic fittings used to secure one end of the bracket to the body. I agree a metal fixing would inspire more confidence but the fixings I got seemed well up to the job and fitted very securely, perhaps they have been updated.

Just fitted the "Black" lifters, when fitted look more like O.E.M. Painted the hood bracket in body colour. As other reveiwers, I also found the supplied plastic pegs useless,just used another fixing. So easy to open

Delivery Information - MX5 Parts

We understand that its really important for you to receive your goods in a timely fashion and for a competitive price. To ensure that we can deliver this we have developed a strategic partnership with both the Royal Mail and our courier partner, Think Worldwide.

At the present time, we only offer one delivery option ‘our carrier’. We will dispatch your goods with the most suitable carrier, for main land UK deliveries this is normally Royal Mail 1st class for packages weighing under 1.5kg and Think Worldwide for those that are over.

Our delivery charges are based on the weight of the consignment and the destination address. For UK mainland deliveries they start at £1.97 for a package weighing under 300g and rise to a MAXIMUM of £9.95 for a package weighing 1.5kg or over (EXCEPT very large bulky items that have an additional shipping surcharge added). The exact delivery cost will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Delivery times are estimated at 1-3 working days by Royal Mail, and 1-2 working days by Think Worldwide for mainland UK addresses. If you order before 3pm, Monday to Friday, we will dispatch the same day. If you order after 3pm, we will try to dispatch the same day, but if we cant it will be the next working day. Items ordered after 3pm Friday or over a weekend will be dispatched Monday. Items dispatched on Friday are for delivery the following week. Items ordered over a Bank Holiday will be dispatched the next working day. MX5parts is constantly updated to keep pace with changes in our stock but demand is high and we occasionally run out of popular items. If we have run out of stock and can’t dispatch your order the next working day, we’ll email or phone you with a revised dispatch date. You can then either accept the revised dispatch date or cancel the order, as you wish. Please note, shipping times are an estimate, and can not be guaranteed. Please note that during special offer periods, dispatch of your order may be delayed slightly due to high a volume of orders.

A signature is required for ALL orders delivered by Think Worldwide. Someone must be at your delivery address to sign for your parcel between 8am and 6pm on a working day. Please send it somewhere it can be reliably signed for, like your place of work, a neighbour, or perhaps your grans. We can (but we don’t like to) ask the courier to leave your parcel without a signature. If we do this, it will be YOUR responsibility if the parcel is lost or damaged. If you want it left, you need to give us your express instructions in the ‘additional information’ box at the end of the checkout process. It would be helpful if you could also indicate exactly where the package should be left.

If you need to change your delivery address, for any packages that have been dispatched with Think Worldwide, there will be an additional charge of £9.95 if the package has already been dispatched.

Please remember, even with Royal Mail deliveries, that any items which are too large to fit through your letter box will need someone to be available to receive the delivery. If the item cannot be delivered, you will be carded and given the option of either a re-delivery or you can collect your parcel from your local post office depot.

Orders sent to countries outside the UK will be sent VAT free, however please note that on all international shipments, the recipient is responsible for any local VAT, import duty and other clearance fees that may be charged.
