Superb and done the job, but there are a few tips that are not clear in the instructions. 1. Take of the bolts by unclipping the wire retainers. 2. The short ones fit to the bonnet due to metalwork clearance. 3. If you don’t have taps then you need to drill a 6.1 mm not 4.8mm and then use the supplied nut. However to do this you need to un bolt the bonnet for access.Finally when the four bolts are fitted don’t try and compress the struts, just lift the bonnet up higher and then struts should pop on.

I fitted these to my MK1 around 3 months back. Initially was really pleased with them. Easy to fit and work well. However they have corroded Badly and look awefull. Very dissatisfied. I was under the impression IL Motorsport products were of good quality. Buyer's be aware!!

Not easy to fit.Having drilled the holes in the bonnet hinges in the correct position, the struts were about half an inch too long, which necessitated compressing them in situ.Not easy! I had already used a vice to compress them as I had read that they can be stiff at first But even after doing that a few times they were difficult to compress by hand that final half an inch. Got there in the end and they work very well but a bit of a ball ache to fit.

Had these for a few months now so I feel like I can make a full reviewPro's fitting was easy and is fairly idiot proof.So great having all the extra space to work on the car with out the factory support getting in the way.Con'sfirst set had an incorrect ball joint. probably for a different car however MX5parts did swap the set for me.they do like to push up the bonnet however as they don't fully compress despite me going by the instructions for drilling the holes. However you can just push it the rest of the way.But the deal breaker and the reason for the 2 stars.... They rust. Really badly as well. Within a month the chrome finish was starting to flake.

Certainly hold the bonnet up and lift the last 3rd of travel quite nicely in the cold tooTime will tell as to how long they remain effective as I've seen bigger, but certainly seem up to the jobWith regards fitting........ i took another reviewers idea of drilling out the hinge and just bolting the top ball joint on and holding the nut in place with a cable tie until the thread started.Basically because the cheapo 6mm tap I had bought was'nt up to the job.Oh ! and I sprayed the main body of the struts black too , to give a more factory look

Hi, just a couple of comments having read some previous reviews. If you have just bought some lifters recently then the instructions are right; use a 5mm drill for the holes in the hinges then tap out to 6mm. The photos on the Gernam side of the fitting instructions are much clearer than those on the English side. Slightly worried about Roy M's comments about throwing away the locking pins.......why would you need to do this? I kept mine and have no problems. Also he talks about using the second hole instead of the hole that has a bolt in it helping locate the wing; I simply took the bolt out of here and replaced it with the strut bolt. It is a straight swop! The second hole is too big and requires the use of washers to locate the strut bolt. All that said the struts work perfectly and look good, got it all fitted in about an hour, not rushing it! Another Ronseal type product, "It does what it says on the Sales Blurb!"

Very shiny product. Very Good function. Very poor instructions... I had to remove both ball fittings from the shaft in order to screw them on the wing and the bonnet hinge. The hinge must also be removed to secure the ball fitting with the nut. A washer must also be added on the upper side of the wing as the existing hole is a little larger than the ball fitting bolt. Take your time and be patient. Drilling and tapping has been mentioned by other reviewers. Very pleased with the outcome of these lifters, adding a classy aspect on the bonnet. Delivery from mx5parts prompt as usual.

HiOrdered them Friday dinner...arrived 9.30am the following morning, fantastic delivery, good quality and good total price including P+P.I decided to go against the instructions and NOT drill and tap the bonnet bracket, I thought it would be very difficult, if at all possible, to screw the bonnet ball into the tapped hole and then get the nut on an tightened on the back of the bracket, so I drilled it out 6.2mm as the "old" instructions and then hold and feed the nut down the gap with a plastic tie wrap, small drop of nut lock in the thread and after 2 or 3 attempts to get the nut started and it was sorted, took about 15 minutes from start to finish.Very pleased with the finished job, really opens up the engine bay now the bonnet stay is not there to keep getting in my way.

At the present time, we only offer one delivery option ‘our carrier’. We will dispatch your goods with the most suitable carrier, for main land UK deliveries this is normally Royal Mail 1st class for packages weighing under 2kg and Think Worldwide for those that are over.

Our delivery charges are based on the weight of the consignment and the destination address. For UK mainland deliveries they start at £2.95 for a package weighing under 200g and rise to a MAXIMUM of £9.95 for a package weighing 2kg or over (EXCEPT very large bulky items that have an additional shipping surcharge added). The exact delivery cost will be clearly displayed at checkout.

Delivery times are estimated at 1-3 working days by Royal Mail, and 1-2 working days by Think Worldwide for mainland UK addresses. If you order before 3pm, Monday to Friday, we will dispatch the same day. If you order after 3pm, we will try to dispatch the same day, but if we cant it will be the next working day. Items ordered after 3pm Friday or over a weekend will be dispatched Monday. Items dispatched on Friday are for delivery the following week. Items ordered over a Bank Holiday will be dispatched the next working day. MX5parts is constantly updated to keep pace with changes in our stock but demand is high and we occasionally run out of popular items. A signature is required for ALL orders delivered by Think Worldwide. Someone must be at your delivery address to sign for your parcel between 8am and 6pm on a working day. Please send it somewhere it can be reliably signed for, like your place of work, a neighbour, or perhaps your grans. We can (but we don’t like to) ask the courier to leave your parcel without a signature. If we do this, it will be YOUR responsibility if the parcel is lost or damaged. If you want it left, you need to give us your express instructions in the ‘additional information’ box at the end of the checkout process. It would be helpful if you could also indicate exactly where the package should be left.

If you need to change your delivery address, for any packages that have been dispatched with Think Worldwide, there will be an additional charge of £9.95 if the package has already been dispatched.

Please remember, even with Royal Mail deliveries, that any items which are too large to fit through your letter box will need someone to be available to receive the delivery. If the item cannot be delivered, you will be carded and given the option of either a re-delivery or you can collect your parcel from your local post office depot.

Orders sent to countries outside the UK will be sent VAT free, however please note that on all international shipments, the recipient is responsible for any local VAT, import duty and other clearance fees that may be charged.
